This past Saturday was Boy’s Day Out. Tristen, mommy and Ansa took over the downstairs, along with six of Tristen’s little girl friends. It was more lace and pink than I care to baptize my son in at this point in his life. When Tristen began her planning weeks ago Haydn and I began our plans as well. While the girls went into an intricate maze of lace, pinkness, china, croissants, the party store, gifts and gift bags and piano recital plans and more I asked Haydn,
“Hey bud, you wanna go to Frankie’s?”
Plan done! We were set. It was Boy’s Day Out and we were off to Frankie’s Fun Park for a morning of Go-Kart riding, Putt-putt and Bumper Boats. After that we went to Brusters for some waffle-cone action. We sat out on the concrete, leaning up against the wall enjoying our ice cream. And then it was back home to watch the original Disney production of Swiss Family Robinson.
Glory! It was a good day. We ate. We burped. We picked some ice cream off the concrete and ate that as well. We lay in bed and watched a movie. We knocked balls in the water and went after them. And there were no girls, pinkness, lace or croissants. It was a good day for the Thomas boys.
